The National Council for Women is an Egyptian governmental national council, established by Presidential Decree No. 90 of 2000, and affiliated with the President of the Republic. The decision establishing the Council stipulated several mandates aimed at advancing women and enabling them to perform their political, social and economic roles and integrating their efforts into development programs. The Council seeks to achieve this by During an ambitious work program in which the relevant institutions, whether governmental or non-governmental, participate in its implementation.
Rather than conducting a single extensive assessment of all community members, CU conducts several evaluations concentrating on specific topics and targeted stakeholder groups. In the fall of 2020, CU conducted a Diversity Engagement Survey. This was the first study of its sort to assess professor, staff, and student participation. The poll enabled CU to identify areas of strength and areas for progress in Emory's diversity and inclusion efforts. It analyzes the inclusion of the university environment as well as the levels of engagement of the university's stakeholders in diversity.

The Unit to Combat Violence against Women was established within the National Council for Women in 2018 in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund, with the aim of coordinating between national bodies and supporting the institutional framework for implementing and following up on the protection axis of the Women’s Advancement Strategy 2030 and the National Strategy to Combat Violence. In the same year, a decision was issued to establish units to combat violence against women in universities, as Cairo University was the first university to establish this unit.
Across Egyptians universities in 2018, only 28% of Professors are women, and only 30% of the highest level of professional staff is women. Now women are founded as universities presidents in Egypt. Engagement with National Council for Women framework is a proven way of bringing gender equality into strategic and operational planning, and working toward improving the outcome for all staff.

By email communication to colleagues across the University followed by the President’s all staff email announcing the achievement. The results are posted on the CU centers and units website. The President also hosted a celebratory event for the institution, Self- Assessment Team.
