Sustainability Ambassadors
A brief description of the employee educators program (1st program):
Sustainability Ambassadors have been selected for all major campus buildings to help CU achieve its sustainability vision. A dean recommended these individuals based on their reputation among colleagues and their leadership talents to assist CU in meeting its sustainability goals. The purpose of a Sustainability Ambassador is to serve as the interface between this project and the building occupants who can make its vision a reality by being an ambassador of the effort to each department and encouraging behavioral changes that will create a more sustainable campus. The everyday decisions made by building occupants about recycling, energy, water, food, transportation, shopping, printing, and so on will determine whether CU constructs a truly sustainable campus. All delegates commit to five 6 actions per month to raise awareness about sustainability.

Ambassador Program for Zero Waste
A brief description of the employee educators program (2nd program):
Ambassadors for Zero Waste provide students, professors, and staff with the knowledge and resources they need to achieve the Sustainability Vision goals of waste reduction and diversion. It is vital to cultivate a community that values materials management and its connections to environmental justice, resource conservation, and a regenerative economy. Ambassadors for Zero Waste will develop the tools and leadership skills necessary to educate people and the agency on how to enhance Emory's systems, communication, and culture in order to reach these goals. The program is established so that student interns from the Office of Sustainability Initiatives (OSI) turn to OSI staff for content contributions, while the program's outreach, communications, training, and programming are all developed and carried out by the OSI.
A brief description of the employee educators program’s target audience (2nd program):
This program is aimed at all CU students, teachers, and staff. We seek professionals from all academic units and departments at the University to teach their peers. In addition to the 47 Sustainability Ambassadors, we taught 33 more staff and faculty members, as well as four alumni, in the Ambassador for Zero Waste program. Members of the Ambassador for Zero Waste program are embedded in academic units, offices, labs, and healthcare spaces across the enterprise and are all trained to activate their networks to reduce and divert waste by presenting in meetings and classes, circulating communications, individually answering questions, and directing people to resources about the Zero Waste initiative.

Additional Programs
Green Offices at CU are voluntary certification programs meant to help CU employees improve the sustainability of the university's work environments. To achieve these designations, office teams must first complete checklists containing approved sustainable practices to assess their current practices, and then work with the Office of Sustainability Initiatives to set goals for developing these practices within their spaces. Each program includes an engagement portion in which office and lab personnel are encouraged to participate in sustainability activities as well as collaborate with one another to create innovation in their work environments. The department head, together with one point person, is responsible for program implementation, which necessitates that point person engaging with their department, office.
