Student sustainability research incentives 

Does the institution have an ongoing program to encourage students in multiple disciplines or academic programs to conduct sustainability research?:
Yes

A brief description of the student sustainability research program:
- Cairo University supports and encourages its students to innovate and conduct scientific research in all scientific and service fields. Cairo University and Postgraduate Studies and Research Sector are pleased to announce a competition for students by applying to innovative proposals in the following fields:


1- Scientific Innovation Field: Student is required to present new innovative idea or product or modify established marketable and economically viable product that privileges the state strategic priorities (renewable energy – water desalination and treatment – nutritional safety – health and treatment – information technology use – major developmental projects).


2- Community Service Fields: Student presents implementable vision aimed at developing Egyptian society. The presented vision could provide ideas such as elimination of the Egyptian environment risks, or experiences of held small income-generating businesses.

- Cairo University launched a student competition under the slogan “Cairo University and Sustainability Prospects” within the framework of the celebrations of the International Day of Sustainability; With the aim of raising awareness of sustainable development and promoting its concepts among university students.

-Inclusion of environmental studies in Cairo University curricula in undergraduate and postgraduate studies.-Organizing environmental outreach programs for neighboring communities all over Egypt.-Participation in regional partnership for sustainable development (Member in the Mediterranean network for sustainable development).-Development of students awareness programs, competitions and projects.

Faculty sustainability research incentives

A brief description of the faculty sustainability research program:
The Center for Risk Reduction and Environmental Studies and Research aims to address environmental problems in the areas of air and water pollution and hazardous waste disposal, as well as environmental impact assessment studies and basic geological and geophysical studies for future plans in urban, agricultural, tourism and industrial expansion. It provides research opportunities for university faculty members

- Center for Environmental Research and Studies offers seed grants and many sustainability-related projects have benefited from their support.

- The Development Research and Technological Planning Center in Cairo University proudly announces its new Program “Roadmap for Professional Cost Engineers” This program is developed to help cost engineers understand their roles and responsibilities within real estate projects. It provides insights into different pathways for cost engineers and delivers guidance for cost engineers to be certified cost professionals.

Does the institution have ongoing library support for sustainability research and learning?:

A brief description of the institution’s library support for sustainability research:
Cairo University had a central Library support for sustainability research. Cairo University library stems its objectives from its educational institution. The success of the university in accomplishing its message depends on the validity of its libraries, which are responsible for the educational and research process at the university. The mission of the library is part and parcel of the message of the university as being centered on education, research and community service. It helps the student, the researcher, and the professor carry cut their job as it provides them with the varied sources of information. Besides, the library sorts out these sources and keeps them. Similarly, it is responsible for orienting library frequenters to know how to find out sources of information and how to make advantage of them. There are also several specialized librarians cooperate to build the university’s collections in sustainability-related fields. There is a dedicated Environmental Studies librarian, as well as Anthropology and other related fields.
