A brief description of the projects and how they contribute to understanding or advancing sustainability in relation to Public Engagement:
Engineering Center for Archaeology and Environment (E.C.A.E.) is a research center at CU. The Engineering Center for Archaeology and Environment was established on August 28th, 1992 after several years of experience in the conservation of historical sites and monuments within Cairo University. Applying recent engineering sciences and technologies in the field of conservation and restoration of historical sites and monuments. It is focused on developing concepts, methods and technology that underpin best practice sustainable & holistic lifecycle building management solutions. The Center’s mission has essentially developed around three axes of work :
• Research : adaptation and development of research in conservation methodology.
• Consultation and technical Support for the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) or for foreign archaeological teams.
• Continuing Education and Training of Specialists in the fields of Engineering & Archaeology and Environment.

A brief description of the projects and how they contribute to understanding or advancing sustainability in relation to Air & Climate:
CU established yearly the Environmental Awareness Week that includes awareness with air and climate change. In addition the CU oversee the "Get Green" Initiative that aims to change behaviors, spread environmental awareness, and urge citizens, especially young people, to participate in preserving the environment and natural resources to ensure their sustainability in order to preserve the rights of future generations. The initiative also aims to spread awareness of the preservation and management of natural reserves according to international standards, in order to ensure the preservation of the balance of ecosystems and to maximize opportunities for economic and social development. The initiative launched by the Ministry of Environment raises awareness of the importance of afforestation, recycling of waste, rationalizing food and energy consumption, reducing the use of plastic, preserving marine creatures, reducing air pollution, and protecting nature reserves.

Cairo University formed a committee to follow up the implementation of the government's plan to rationalize electricity consumption in buildings and facilities. Also the cu set up a group of recommendations for different colleges and institutes to establish an energy management team in departments and units, which works to monitor and follow up on energy use.

Cairo University had Environment Communication Center that has been involved in many environmental activities with the students, spreading awareness about environmental problems and waste management. Recently it applied a project to convert the organic waste at the university to biofuel that can be utilized for energy purposes.

M.Sc. degree of a thesis, by Mohamed Rady Mohamed, entitled “Wastewater treatment using nanoparticles of natural materials exposed to laser beams”, has been donated at National Institute of Laser Enhanced Sciences (NILES), Cairo University.
A Bachelor Programs entitled “Water Engineering and Environment (WEE)”. Its mission is to serve the future development of Egypt, Arab countries and, the Nile river basin countries by disseminating and developing technical expertise capable of improving the physical infrastructure and addressing environmental issues related to water resources development and utilization.

The Minister of General Business Sector Ashraf Al-Sharqawy said, during the seminar opening, that ،،the ministry works on analyzing current investments in general business sector companies and financing resources so as to reach investment structures as a response to current economic changes.,, He pointed out that ،،the ministry studies employment restructuring in companies to redistribute them on the jobs that suffers shortage in required efficiencies and achieve balance between technical and non-technical employment.,, The minister added that ،،there are many themes of developing companies in general business sector that we work on for treating the influence of recent economic changes on those companies.,,
