A brief description of any internal sustainability professional development and training opportunities that the institution makes available to non-academic staff:
At least once a semester CUES staff present through the Provost's Office Staff Training and Enrichment Program (STEP). Previous presentations include, an introduction to sustainability and upcycling/circular economy principles. https://www.butler.edu/provost/step

In 2020/21, the CUES Assistant Director facilitated a year-long Faculty Staff Learning Community (FSLC) about how to incorporate sustainability into our lives, workplace, and classes. https://www.butler.edu/provost/learning-communities

In fall 2021, the CUES is hosted a series of workshops on sustainability, urban ecology, and systems thinking, emotional resilience in sustainability, and a guest speaker on resource extraction and social justice in Indiana. The workshop series will continue in spring 2022 focusing on empowerment and civic engagement in sustainability solutions.

A brief description of how sustainability is included in staff performance reviews :
Full-time staff (3) of the Center for Urban Ecology and Sustainability (CUES) are reviewed annually based on individually developed goals including sustainability in research, programming, advising student sustainability projects, sustainability partnerships, and University sustainability goals, such as initiatives in the Butler University Sustainability and Climate Action Plan (BUSA).

CUES also supports approximately 30 students a year in various paid positions and internships, all which include performance reviews each semester on success in achieving sustainability goals specific to their project. https://www.butler.edu/cues/student-opportunities
