The President’s Sustainability Council (PSC) shall act as the University’s Leadership team with primary responsibility to include developing and implementing the University’s Sustainability Plan. It shall calculate and make public Bucknell’s Carbon Footprint, track progress, recommend actions, and implement steps needed to meet the carbon reduction goals. It shall create and track progress toward other sustainability goals. It shall prepare and submit the STARS report (or equivalent) on an appropriate cycle. The PSC will charter Sub-Committees and working groups as necessary to implement or recommend policy. Those Sub-Committees shall periodically brief the PSC to inform them of opportunities, status, or recommendations.

President, Provost, VP Finance and Administration, Executive Director of Bucknell Center for Sustainability and the Environment, AVP Facilities and Sustainability, 4 at large faculty members, 3 at large staff members, 3 at large student members. At large members are elected for 2-3 yr terms.

Simultaneous planning and implementation process by the President's Sustainability Council, Bucknell has attained certain sustainability accomplishments and began key initiatives including:
1. Restoration of the headwater regions of Miller Run
2. Regional Susquehanna River Symposiums and Students outdoor ecological engagement
3. Zero new investment in direct fossil fuel assets in 3 years and less than 4% of total
4. Mulching 600+ tons of solid waste annually & replaced plastic utensils with compostable ones
5. AASHE/STARS Gold Rating for Bucknell and LEED O&M Platinum for Academic West
6. More than 30,000 LED lights installed across campus; Earned tree campus award
7. Over 800 student’s participation at Bucknell Farm; Over 15,000 lbs of food donated
8. Sustainability outreach to extended community of organizations such as Weis Markets, Milton Regional Sewer Authority and Lycoming Landfill – food waste to green energy consortium
9. Preparing students for business leadership through Green Tank and Green Fund innovation competition; public policy leadership through debates; and behavioral changes through sustainability certification (offices/classes, housing and events/dining) programs
10. Ordinance for solar project while pursuing budget neutral carbon neutrality with potential service providers.
11. Installation of Biodigester to divert food waste from the landfill
12. Deployment of 1.7MWDC Bison Solar Project
13. Reduction of carbon footprint by 29% in 2020 versus 2008 baseline

The Director of Sustainability (DS) will reports to the VP Finance and Administration organizationally and reports to the President process wise by leading the President’s Sustainability Council (PSC) in the development and implementation of a campus wide sustainability plan. The DS is responsible for the providing strategic direction, day-to-day leadership on all sustainability initiatives, oversees internal and external communications, and tracks metrics to assess the plan’s progress. This position will directly supervise a team of staff and/or student interns and coordinate with other faculty, staff, and student volunteers and vendors to implement the sustainability plan.
