A team of students that are passionate about sustainability who hold events to educate and engage students on campus with sustainability efforts. Events include educational tabling, upcycling crafts, movie screenings, and waste sorting.

Students interested in becoming a student educator fill out a short application and have an interview with the Sustainability Manager in the Office of Campus Sustainability


A brief description of the formal training that the student educators receive to prepare them to conduct peer outreach:

The Sustainability Outreach Team holds monthly meetings to discuss how to conduct different events, as well as how to talk about the different topics. If there are events that involve making a craft, detailed instructions are included with the materials and team members are encouraged to read through the instructions and attempt the craft. If an event is scheduled after a monthly meeting, the craft may be taught during the meeting to all educators.


A brief description of the financial and/or administrative support the institution provides to the program (e.g. annual budget and/or faculty/staff coordination):

The Sustainability Outreach Team is run and facilitated through the Office of Campus Sustainability, which is housed under Facilities. A dedicated cost center has been established for the Office of Campus Sustainability and they provide all funding for the Sustainability Outreach Team.
