A brief description of the student research program, including the incentives provided and any positive outcomes during the previous three years:

Each summer, Bucknell University supports 250-300 students conducting mentored research, scholarship, and creative projects for 8-12 weeks by providing $3,000 to $5,000 and on-campus housing. Many of the students supported by these campus-wide programs choose to conduct research relevant to sustainability. The McKenna Summer Environmental Internship Program is specifically targeted to support students interested in environmental research focusing primarily, but not exclusively, on the West Branch of the Susquehanna River Bioregion. This endowed fund provides such students with financial support ($3500 in 2016-18, $4000 in 2019) and on-campus housing to conduct this research over the summer.
