Which of the following best describes the institution’s approach to rainwater management?:
Comprehensive policies, plans or guidelines that require LID practices for all new projects
A brief description of the institution’s green infrastructure and LID practices:
Bryn Mawr College stormwater best management practices include pervious paving, rain gardens and ground water infiltration basins. In addition, the college maintains an innovative pond structure installed in 2001 that naturally treats the stormwater of an additional 72 acres of land beyond the campus boundary. The pond includes a "bench" of wetland plants that organically consumes pollutants. The pond also collects sediments and cools the water, further improving its quality, before it exits the pond and re-enters downstream creeks at a controlled rate to avoid flooding.
