Does the institution offer at least one immersive, sustainability-focused educational study program that is one week or more in length?:
Yes
A brief description of the sustainability-focused immersive program(s) offered by the institution, including how each program addresses the social, economic, and environmental dimensions of sustainability:
360° is an interdisciplinary experience that creates an opportunity to participate in a cluster of multiple courses connecting students and faculty in a single semester (or in some cases across contiguous semesters) to focus on common problems, themes, and experiences for the purposes of research and scholarship.
Interdisciplinary and interactive, 360 builds on Bryn Mawr's strong institutional history of learning experiences beyond the traditional classroom, placed within a rigorous academic framework. 360 participants hone their arguments and insights through writing and research, develop strategies for teamwork that push the limits of their talents and creativity, and work with professors and scholars to promote big-picture thinking. Travel associated with the 360 program is funded by Bryn Mawr College.
All 360°s include some kind of non-traditional classroom experience, which can take many forms, including international travel, domestic travel, PRAXIS placement, intensive lab experience, project work, and shadowing experts in the field. At least one 360 per year is focused on sustainability issues- Academic year 2015-16 360°: Climate Change: Science and Politics; Academic year 2014- 2015 360°: Temperate and Tropical Coasts in Transition and 360°: Struggles for Global Health Equity; 2013-2014 360°: China and the Environment & 360°: Eco-Literacy & 360°: Perspectives on Sustainability."
