A brief description of the methodology used to determine the total number of courses offered and to identify sustainability course offerings, including the definitions used and the process for reviewing and/or validating the course inventory :

The number of courses offered at Bryn Mawr was calculated following Common Data Set (CDS) guidelines. These values exclude credit-bearing or non-credit bearing independent research, internships, senior thesis, or other independent study. Courses exclusively offered by and for the Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research are excluded from these values. Cross-listed courses are counted as a single course offering.
The undergraduate course catalogue was reviewed to determine the number of sustainability courses and courses that include sustainability. The initial review consisted of a word search for key words developed from the definition of sustainability included in the Earth Charter. Each course identified in the search was further reviewed to confirm that the course is a sustainability course or includes sustainability based on the guidance provided in the AASHE STARS 2.1 Technical Manual.

How were courses with multiple offerings or sections counted for the figures reported above?:
Other (please describe below)

A brief description of how courses with multiple offerings or sections were counted (if different from the options outlined above):

Each course was counted as a single course regardless of the number of sections, however if the course was offered in multiple semesters, it was counted each semester it was offered. As a result only 20 courses are listed that include sustainability as PHIL B102- Science and Morality in Modernity was offered in both the Fall and Spring Semester. Similarly, only 25 sustainability courses are listed since Econ B225 - Economic Development was offered in both the Fall and Spring Semester.
