Name of the campaign:
Recyclemania

A brief description of the campaign, including how students and/or employees were engaged:

RecycleMania is a national 8-week long recycling program that colleges and universities compete in to benchmark and improve efforts geared towards the reduction and elimination of waste on campus.

Bryant has participated in Recyclemania since 2010. The 2019 E-Waste recycling drive at Bryant University is scheduled for February 21, 2019. The date for the Green Office clean-out is March 26 and 27.

A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign:

Bryant University’s participation in the Recyclemania competition has had a positive impact on both students and staff alike. Each year, the percentage of engagement throughout the competition has steadily increased since Bryant first participated in 2009. Bryant University ranked 3rd in 2018 in the category of Electronics for 9.43 lbs per capita. The program’s continued success can be attributed to the strong marketing and promotional efforts targeted towards the Bryant community.

A brief description of other sustainability-related outreach campaigns, including measured positive impacts:

In September of 2016, in partnership with the student sustainability group, the Alumni and Parent Engagement office conducted a recycling campaign for bottles and cans during outdoor festivities at Homecoming @ Reunion weekend. The alumni office provided T-shirts to the students and the students coordinated the repository of the items. Additionally, the Alumni and Parent Engagement office has begun assembling a listing of "Green Alumni" of Bryant University, focusing on those alumni employed in a sustainability-related field. Occupations of those identified include: 1) CEO of a private company which leverages the strengths of its products and people to deliver industry leading architectural products and services for commercial buildings, as well as protection and conservation of all things framed and displayed; 2) President of the leading termite elimination firm in the Caribbean; and, 3) Founder of green start-up that leveraged the sustainability movement, integrating energy efficiency services and renewable solar energy solutions for the residential market. Potential initiatives include a Breakfast Series program on Sustainable Business Practices, as well as a "Call to Action" for sustainability-related stories for Bryant's flagship alumni publications.
