Mission Statement
The Dinah E. Gore Fitness & Aquatics Center at Brunswick Community College (BCC), located in the Physical Education Building, is a community-minded facility that was established to encourage a healthy lifestyle among BCC students, employees, and residents of Brunswick County. Our goal is to promote health, fitness, and wellness in a welcoming atmosphere.
As a part of the BCC campus, the Fitness and Aquatics Center will have combined usage with academics, athletics, member activities, and contracted events. Facility regulations are in place to ensure the safety of members, students, and the general public.
Fitness Center
Our 3,600 sq. foot Fitness Center offers top of the line Life Fitness strength and cardio equipment. Treadmills, ellipticals and upright and recumbent cycles provide great cardiovascular workouts and the Life Fitness Signature Series Strength Machines are perfect for the beginner or regular exerciser. A complete free weight area is available with dumbbells (ranging from 5lbs-100lbs), benches, cables and squat racks.
Aerobic Studio
Our 3,260 sq. foot Aerobics Studio is the ideal location for any group fitness class. This room contains additional equipment including dumbbells (ranging from 1lbs-10lbs), Versa Bars (12lbs-24lbs), BOSUs, Stability Balls and Medicine Balls.
Gymnasium
Our 9,000 sq. foot gymnasium houses 3 NCAA regulation basketball and volleyball courts. Each court can be separated by a drop-down curtain. The gymnasium can seat over 1,500 spectators.
Walking Track
The 3-lane elevated track is 1/12 mile in length and made from recycled tires. The rubberized surface provides cushioning to joints and is a great alternative to the cardiovascular machines in the Fitness Center.
Aquatics Center
The Aquatics Center houses 2 swimming pools including a 4,500 sq. foot lap pool (25 yards) and a 1,584 sq. foot warm water pool. Large groups are welcome.
*A Lifeguard is on duty during all hours of operation.
Child Watch
Child Watch is available for families with children ages 6 months-6 years. Supervised play in the child watch room is offered during scheduled times throughout the week. 24-hour notice is required and paperwork must be completed.
Programs
Fitness Programs
All members receive a complimentary equipment orientation to the machines in the fitness center. Assistance with fitness programming is also available.
Aquatics Programs
American Red Cross Swim Lessons are currently being offered in the Aquatic Center. Qualified professionals will help children and adults of all ages improve their swimming abilities. Members and non-members are encouraged to sign up. For current class sessions and registration information, click here.
Group Exercise and Water Classes
A new class schedule is offered each month with a variety of classes to improve cardiovascular fitness, strength and flexibility. Water classes are offered in the lap pool and warm water pool. Classes are available at an additional cost to membership.
Camps
Children’s summer camps provide your child with the chance to develop character, learn valuable life skills, make new friends, and discover new interests. At the Dinah E. Gore Fitness & Aquatic Center our goal is to help parents find camps that will meet the needs and interest of your child. Now is the time for you to register your kids for this coming summer. For information regarding upcoming summer camps, please visit the YES Camps page.
