|2.00 / 3.00||
Vice President for Academic Services
Has the institution developed a definition of sustainability in the curriculum?:
A copy of the institution's definition of sustainability in the curriculum?:
Has the institution identified its sustainability-focused and sustainability-related course offerings?:
A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the inventory:
Instructors were asked if any of the courses they teach incorporate sustainability as it relates to social (people/communities), economic (financial resoures), and environmental (natural resources)factors within the classes.
Instructors responded with the courses they deemed appropriate to be considered as courses teaching Sustainability within their department and experience.
Using the STARS 1.1 Technical Manual for definitions -
Sustainability-focused courses "concentrate on the concepts of sustainability, including its social, economic and environmental dimensions, or examine an issue or topic using sustainability as a lens"...
Sustainability-related courses "incorporate sustainability as distinct course component or module or concentration on a single sustainability principle or issue"...
Does the institution make its sustainability course inventory publicly available online?:
The website URL where the sustainability course inventory is posted:
According to Sharon Thompson, "we have not developed a definition directly related to curriculum instruction. Now that our mission and goals have been approved by the Board of Trustees, I expect sustainability will be part of our benchmarks and incorporated into our strategic plan, given it is part of goal eight. These two initiatives will help us move forward with STARS ER-5 criteria." [email, February 7, 2012]
