A brief description of the student educators program (1st program):
In April of 2023, Sustainability at Brock co-hosted a Bioblitz event with the Niagara Parks commission. With the help of the Master of Sustainability Research Assistants, the event offered students an opportunity to learn about invasive species in Niagara and contribute to management plans at Dufferin Island. This event focused on completing a biological survey of a specific area on Dufferin Island, offering the undergraduate and graduate students in attendance practical skills in the environmental field. Students were able to be immersed in terrestrial and aquatic systems while learning about sustainability efforts in a local community setting.

Seed Packing Event – Brock University Seed Library

A brief description of the student educators program (2nd program):
The Brock University Seed Library offers free seeds to staff, students, and community members to “borrow” and plant in their home gardens. The cycle functions like a library where participants can borrow and return seeds free of cost. The goal of this Seed Library is to protect genetic diversity in our food system and promote public access to seeds. This initiative was developed by two Master of Sustainability students who received the World Wildlife Fund “Canada’s Go Wilde School Grant”. These students facilitate Seed Packing/seed planting events to stock the seed library and educate the Brock community about the importance of maintaining biodiversity in the Niagara Region.

A brief description of the student educators program’s target audience (2nd program):
This event was an open event for the entire Brock Community.
