A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation :

Brock University hosts an annual “Welcome Week” for new incoming students. The week features many events and activities that the students can get involved in that integrate sustainability. Brock’s student orientation features a special event through Brock Cares, and this initiative is paired with participants from twelve organizations in four Niagara municipalities; where Brock student, staff and faculty help paint, clean, staff booths and offer assistance in any way they can. Brock also hosts a local Vendor Fair that provides an opportunity to introduce students to more than 70 local businesses and various departments and activities on campus. In the 2018-2019 year over 3500 students attended the Vendor Fair over the course of the two days, and students could sign-up for a variety of BUSU Clubs, such as, the Vegan Society and the Eco Society. Additionally, a new event featured is a community BBQ hosted by the City of St. Catharines. This event promotes students to meet with local community members and engage with the individuals from the Niagara Region.
