Please note that assured reports are still subject to review by AASHE staff prior to publication, which may require additional revisions. AASHE reserves the right to withhold points for this credit if it is determined that the assurance process was clearly unsuccessful in identifying and resolving inconsistencies or errors (e.g., when AASHE staff identify a significant number of issues that were either not mentioned in the completed review template or not resolved successfully).

Has the institution completed an assurance process that provides independent affirmation that the information in its current STARS report is reported in accordance with credit criteria?:
Yes

Did the assurance process include internal review, an external audit, or both?:
Both internal review and an external audit

The name, title, and organizational affiliation of each reviewer:
Agathe Chu, Senior Internal Auditor, BCIT
Dwayne Doornbosch, Director, Facilities, Langara College
Patricia Baker, Associate Director, Facilities, Langara College
Raymond Yeung, Manager, Facilities, Langara College

A brief description of the institution’s assurance process:
The STARS 2.2 Review Template was used to guide the assurance process. Two levels of review were done using the Review Template:

1. A first internal review was conducted by a senior internal auditor from Enterprise Risk and Internal Audit. The auditor was not involved in the STARS reporting process prior to the review.
2. The second review was an external audit conducted by three individuals affiliated with Langara College in Vancouver, British Columbia. The review gave their STARS team an opportunity to get better acquainted with the STARS reporting process and learn from the BCIT STARS team.

Any issues that were identified were recorded and brought to the attention of the STARS Liaison Christine Pinkham to be addressed. After identified issues were addressed, the changes made were recorded in the STARS Review Template.
