A brief description of the institution’s professional development opportunities on sustainability in the curriculum:
The BYU Stewardship Lab is a cross-campus initiative where participants experience five modules: Orienting, Knowledge Sharing, Integrating, Collaborating, and Synthesizing. These modules give faculty members and other staff an opportunity to align interests, form partnerships, and develop professional opportunities for research and collaboration across the built, natural, social, creative, and spiritual domains. The largest in-person roundtable was attended by 125 participants on April 1, 2022. To strengthen these efforts, BYU's sustainability manager participated in AASHE's yearlong "Building a Curriculum Development Program for Your Institution: The Piedmont/Ponderosa Model" program led by Peggy Bartlett, the Goodrich C. White Professor Emerita in the Department of Anthropology at Emory University.
As the flagship university of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, BYU also hosts networking and training calls for sustainability professionals within the Church Educational System, including BYU's sister campuses in Hawaii and Idaho. These virtual meetings are held quarterly, with participation from the sustainability manager of the Church. One-on-one, in-person meetings take place when possible.
Have academic staff from other institutions participated in the professional development opportunities on sustainability with the previous three years?:
