Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
In 2024, BYU Dining Services debuted a meal delivery service, Cougar Dash, that relies exclusively on electric utility vehicles. Reducing emissions and increasing convenience for campus community members, the new service resulted from a collaboration between Dining Services and Physical Facilities to reduce the university's vehicle count, following a review of BYU Sustainability's preliminary data for OP-15 (Campus Fleet) and OP-8 (Sustainable Dining). This innovation has not been captured in those credits.
Through Cougar Dash, boxed lunches that were previously delivered via gasoline or diesel-powered vehicles are now delivered with zero-emissions vehicles, a fleet of Club Car Carryalls located at strategic points throughout campus. Additional products, such as meals from Choices and other BYU dining concepts, can also be delivered, curbing potential emissions from customers that would otherwise drive themselves.
Cougar Dash is available through the BYU Dining Services app. Emissions data will be shared in 2025.
