A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation:
The opening day BBQ for incoming freshmen is a zero waste event which encourages students to recycle, compost and reduce waste. Upon arrival, every new student receives a Recycling bag for use in their room, an LED or CFL bulb, and fliers/leaflets about sustainability on campus. All the orientation leaders are trained by the Campus Sustainability Coordinator or receive information to share with new students on sustainable practices and projects at Brandeis.
In addition, the Move-In Market allows students to reuse many things donated the previous year and meet the student Eco-Reps.
