A brief description of the cultural competence trainings and activities:
Opportunities for student training sponsored by Brandeis include presentations by Triskelion, Brandeis POSSE Program, and the Intercultural Center. Triskelion is a GLBT/Queer Alliance. They have six different branches on Brandeis campus. All branches of Trisk work to educate the general student body about queer-related issues and tolerance. http://people.brandeis.edu/~trisk/ Posse is a merit-based scholarship program that chooses ten students for each year to represent the diversity of New York City. At the Posse Plus Retreat, students and faculty from Brandeis discuss topics such as “The American Dream,” “Social Responsibility,” and “Education: Money, Power, and Respect." http://www.brandeis.edu/acserv/posse/index.html The Intercultural Center (ICC) has several club affiliates that all promote the value of diversity and culture. The IC works to recruit a more diverse pool of students, support the values of diversity and promote the importance of multiple views, voices, beliefs, and interests. http://www.brandeis.edu/studentaffairs/icc/
