A brief description of the composting or mulching program:
As of last year, all campus yard waste is composted and thus full points were given. The new leaf composting project allows for all leaves and grass clippings to be collected in big piles. Then, a nitrogen source is added (horse meneure or bags of urea for critter break-down), along with lime to raise the pH level, and the pile is then turned once per month. Once it is broken down, it will be used as a top dressing on the lawns or, if it doesn’t break down very much, it will be used as mulch.
