A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation:
The opening day BBQ for incoming freshmen was a no-waste BBQ which encouraged students to recycle--this was the first meal served to the new students on the day of their arrival. They all received reusable water bottles, CFL Bulbs, upon arrival as well as fliers/leaflets about sustainability on campus. All the orientation leaders were also trained directly by Janna Cohen-Rosenthal, Campus Sustainability Coordinator, on sustainable practices and projects at Brandeis, and encouraged to pass this information on to their group members.
Midyear Orientation in 2011 is being expanded to include a green campus tour, a quiz, and more for incoming students by a class project.
