The Student Green Initiatives Fund was created by students to fund sustainability projects on campus. The overall mission of the Student Green Fee is to minimize the environmental impact of BGSU by supporting Green initiatives and educational projects that can be proposed and decided on by students. It is funded by an opt-out $5.00 per semester fee and is only accessible to current undergraduate and graduate students. To date, close to $2 million of sustainability projects have been funded on campus, with an impact of reducing waste, reducing emissions or incorperating sustainable education.

A brief description of each sustainability office:
The Office of Campus Sustainability is operated by the Sustainability Manager and is located within the Campus Operations area, which is within the Division of Finance and Administration. During the time period in question, 5 part time undergraduate student interns at various times of the year, as well as one part-time Sustainability Assistant Manager, assisted the full-time administrative Sustainability Manager, who is also an adjunct faculty member for the Department of the Environment & Sustainability in the School of the Earth, Environment & Society, within the College of Arts & Sciences. Campus Sustainability coordinates and leads sustainability efforts across campus and runs a number of sustainability initiatives. It collaborates with and advises and great deal of offices, departments and areas across campus in an effort to fulfill the university's sustainability goals and objectives, and the obligations of the President's Climate Commitment (Climate Leadership Network) and Climate Action Plan, among many other things. The Office of Campus Sustainability has three main pillars of 1) Reduction of Emissions through energy conservation and infrastructure upgrades, 2) waste reduction and resource conservation through recycling, composting, and reuse, and 3) educational outreach and engagement of students through event programming and volunteer service.

The Office of Campus Sustainability is within Campus Operations and works across many departments to implement sustainable projects and activities to further BGSU's goals of waste reduction, emissions reduction, and engagement/education in order to reach our goal of carbon neutrality.
Over the past three years, the Office of Campus Sustainability has been responsible for substantive accomplishments, but not limited to, in the following ways:
Designation as a Tree Campus USA, BGSU was awarded in Spring 2024 by the Arbor Day Foundation.
Expansion of the OZZI Box Program with BGSU Dining
Publication of the Green Event Guide, for zero-waste event implementation at any scale.
Zero-Waste All Campus and Staff Appreciation Picnics
Large-Scale LED lighting upgrades through management of the BGSU Green Fund.
BGSU Green Fund has supported nearly $2 million in projects for a ‘greener’ University
According to the C. Raymond Marvin Center for Student Leadership and Civic Engagement, the Office of Campus Sustainability hosted the most service projects and had the highest number of student impacts out of any group on campus for the academic year 2022-2023 and 2023-2024, and is on track to do so once again.
