The School of the Earth, Environment and Society (SEES) offers both natural and social science courses and programs, including undergraduate degrees in Environmental Science, Environmental Policy and Analysis, Geology and Geography. The School also offers a master's program in Geology and a graduate certificate in Geospatial Technology. By bridging the natural and social sciences, SEES prepares students for a variety of careers relevant to important societal issues, including water and energy resources, climate change and sustainability. Many of our students take advantage of our extensive course options in geospatial sciences, important technologies broadly utilized in a variety of disciplines.
The course laid out in SEES seek to develop a deep understanding of social, economic, political and ethical issues as they relate to environmental issues; Students gain an understanding of the concept of sustainability and how it relates to environmental issues; Develop critical thinking skills and apply those skills in rational, civil discourse about complex environmental problems in a way that considers multiple points of view; Learn to identify, investigate and propose realistic and sustainable solutions to complex environmental problems; The ability to articulate the bases of evidence in environmental studies, how it is used, and the assumptions on which it rests.

Environment & Sustainability specialize in facilitation of a university-wide focus on the environment by supporting interdisciplinary approaches among faculty and students engaged in biological, physical, and social sciences. Environmental science encompasses important issues such as pollution and degradation of the environment related to human activities and impacts on biodiversity and sustainability. Enviromental policy brings together a unique mixture of skills and expertise to understand environmental issues through pragmatic policy solutions from administrative, legislative, and organizational viewpoints. These multidisciplinary fields have become increasingly important and continues to flourish as public awareness grows about the need for action in addressing environmental problems.
