Bowdoin has committed to converting the campus vehicle fleet to 100 percent electric by 2027 and electric-powered maintenance equipment by 2030. The popular work van used by many in Bowdoin's facilities management department has just become available in Maine in 2024. The College has replaced two gas powered work vans with two fully electric Transit Connects in the first two months of 2024. Bowdoin also swapped out a hybrid fleet vehicle from the rental fleet with a fully electric Toyota bZ4X. Bowdoin currently has four private chargers used for fleet usage only and anticipates that this number will grow considerably in the next few years.
