In the fall of 2018 the Office of Sustainability, with support from senior leadership of the college, presented on Bowdoin's Climate Action Plan and implementation strategies at a town meeting for the Brunswick Sustainability Committee in anticipation of eventual climate and sustainability action by the town. In doing so, Bowdoin advocated for the creation of town policy to address climate and sustainability issues and assisted in providing a model for a town climate action plan.

In November 2015 Bowdoin signed the American Campuses Act On Climate pledge to show support for strong United States leadership at the COP 21 climate negotiations in Paris. In June of 2017 Bowdoin signed on to "We're Still In", a nation-wide effort by mayors, county executives, governors, tribal leaders, college and university leaders, businesses, faith groups, and investors that joined forces to declare that they will continue to support climate action to meet the Paris Climate Agreement. In October 2018 Bowdoin signed on to a nationwide effort to put a price on carbon started by the organization "Our Climate" https://www.bowdoin.edu/news/2018/11/bowdoin-joins-carbon-pricing-initiative.html

Bowdoin signed onto the We're Still In after the US left the Paris Climate Agreement in 2017, as a message to indicate the US's commitment to responsible climate and clean energy policy.
