A brief description of the employee wellness program, policy, or practice:
Through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), the College provides free, confidential counseling services including debt, childcare, and eldercare to all benefits-eligible employees and members of their immediate families. With the EAP anyone eligible is entitled to four free visits in each of the above categories. Bowdoin completely or partially covers the cost for employees at a number of local smoking cessation programs. There is also a walking program which promotes healthy exercise.
Bowdoin maintains a robust fitness and wellness program that the College subsidizes so that staff pay a reduced rate for wellness and fitness classes. Starting in January 2013, a physical trainer solely for employees will offer courses on how to effectively use gym equipment.
