Yes

A brief description of the assessment(s):

Bowdoin’s Office of Institutional Research, along with two faculty members, have worked on a 5-year study funded by the Teagle Foundation that has provided an in-depth look at campus culture. The panel study closely followed 36 students from the class of 2010 that was oversampled on students of color. The students were interviewed 10-11 times over the five year period beginning in 2006. They were asked a range of questions about their Bowdoin experience, including a series of diversity related questions that focused on the culture of diversity and equity on campus. This study, along with others, including the annual senior exit interviews, focus on measuring the student experience and are used in shaping policy, programs, and campus initiatives.

Year the assessment was last administered:
2,010

A brief description of how the results of the assessment(s) are used in shaping policy, programs, and initiatives:

While the office of Institutional Research finished the most recent assessment in 2010, they are constantly interviewing students and other members of the Bowdoin community. This gives the office of Institutional Research regular feedback on diversity and equity at Bowdoin allowing them to constantly influence policy and programing decisions in order to ensure Bowdoin is a diverse and welcoming community.
