The Advisory Committee for a Diverse Community advises offices in charge of supporting the diverse identity groups that constitute our campus community, on matters pertaining to the academic and social experience of students, faculty and staff. The Committee advises primarily on issues related to gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, and social or geographical origin.

The Committee is composed of three faculty, four students, four staff (two administrative, two support), and ex officio: Special Assistant to the President for Multicultural Affairs, Associate Dean for Multicultural Student Programs, Director of the Women’s Resource Center, Director of the Resource Center for Sexuality and Gender Diversity, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, and the Director of Human Resources.

A brief description of the diversity coordinator's position:

Leana Amaez is Associate Dean for Multicultural Student Programs. As a member of the Dean of Student Affair’s Office, she advises historically underrepresented students throughout their Bowdoin experience, works closely with multicultural student groups, and creates campus wide programs to benefit minority students and increase dialogue about issues of diversity. Roy Partridge is the Special Assistant to the President for Multicultural Affairs, a position that focuses on the College's relations with Maine's Native American tribes.
