Does the institution have and act on a vendor code of conduct or equivalent policy that sets expectations about the social and environmental responsibility of vendors with whom the institution does business?:
Yes

The website URL where the vendor code of conduct or equivalent policy is posted :
A copy of the vendor code of conduct or equivalent policy:
A brief description of programs and strategies institution has implemented to ensure the code is followed, including a brief description of instances when vendor code of conduct has changed purchasing behavior within the last five years, if applicable:

The Bowdoin Bookstore requires vendors to supply a code of conduct to ensure that they are socially responsible, and strives to reduce its carbon footprint in its choice of vendors and by purchasing recycled products. Bowdoin Dining Service ensures that a selection criterion for all contracted vendors is a consideration of their environmental practices and record.

Bowdoin Dining Services does have an official survey, but does not require all businesses to fill it out, mostly because it is cumbersome to small businesses (which are often the companies who are already inclined towards sustainable practices).
