Thorne Hall has a solar hot-heater produces 283 MMBtu per year and another hot water heater in the Schwartz Outdoor Leadership Center.

Electrical cogeneration capabilities has been installed in Bowdoin's steam plant. It is expected to produce 1.65 million kilowatt hours annually and come online in December of 2011.
