Students apply to the Sustainable Bowdoin office be an Eco-Rep. Applicants are then interviewed by the Coordinator for a Sustainable Bowdoin.

A brief description of the formal training that the student educators receive (1st program):
Coordinator for a Sustainable Bowdoin conducts a training for the Eco-reps, generally sophomores, in the few days before classes start. This training includes strategies for working with freshman to encourage green campus involvement and making environmentally conscious choices. This training also includes strategies for increasing campus wide involvement in green events the Eco-reps will be working on throughout the year.

A brief description of the staff and/or other financial support the institution provides to the program (1st program):
Historically there have been 8 paid Eco-reps who have available funding up to 500 dollars for projects they might conduct. For the 2011-12 academic year the number of EcoReps will increase to 16. Each EcRep earns $420 in stipend wages over the course of the year. Throughout the academic year they work closely with the Coordinator for a Sustainable Bowdoin who helps guide their campus involvement.
