Food and Beverage Purchasing Inventory

A brief description of the sustainable food and beverage purchasing program, including how the sustainability impacts of products in specific categories are addressed (e.g. meat, poultry, fish/seafood, eggs, dairy, produce, tea/coffee):
All food services on campus are managed by Sodexo Canada. Nationally, Sodexo has a cage-free egg policy to promote hen health. Fair trade and organic tea and coffee is offered at all food service locations on campus, although not all tea and coffee sold is Fair Trade and organic. All seafood is either Oceanwise or Marine Stewardship Council certified. There are several vegetarian options available each day at our Market space.

The inventory (for one calendar year, Jan 1 - Dec 31, 2017) was completed in collaboration with our food services contractor, Sodexo Canada. Almost all products were recorded for the entire calendar year. For products which this information was not available, a representative sample of three months was used instead, and multiplied by four.

Our food services provider, Sodexo, is an International company based in France. Sodexo Canada offers all food services at Bow Valley College.
