Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
After a successful pilot in 2019, Campus Planning and Operations has continued efforts to provide free menstrual products to the BU community by installing new product dispenser and updating previously coin-operated machines to now dispense products for free. As of April 2023, the project team has installed or updated over 400 Menstrual product dispensers in 40 buildings across Boston University’s Primary Campuses. The installations are occurring in multi-occupancy and all-gender bathrooms. By the end of the effort, the team expects there to be more than 500 free product dispensers in over 50 buildings across our campuses. To better align with the University’s sustainability efforts, the dispensers are gradually transitioning to 100% organic cotton products, a more sustainable option in the long term.
