A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction and engagement:
In 2021, BU commissioned the consulting firm, Korn Ferry, to complete the survey and execute a summary of employee satisfaction and engagement. The survey was sent only to Boston University's non-academic staff, of which 75% or 4,647 employees responded. This equates to 44.65% of all employees.
A brief description of the mechanism(s) by which the institution addresses issues raised by the evaluation:
A University Culture Committee was commissioned to focus on 1) assessing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives; 2) improving flexible work; and 3) leadership development. The Committee will be implementing separate streams of work for these initiatives and will be collecting staff feedback in relation to these priorities and executing programs to address key themes. The Committee was inaugurated on November 29, 2021.
In June 2022, the University commissioned a program entitled "Improving with You" to: (1) gather quarterly feedback from a random sample of staff who are continuing their career at BU and staff who accept employment elsewhere and (2) provide confidential feedback to leaders, facilitate the development of action plans and monitor progress.
In May 2021, the staff unit accountable for these results will conduct "listening tours" during which summaries of results and action plans are reviewed.
