A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation:
Historically, Human Resources (HR) provided a sustainability-focused handout at new employee orientation. Due to the pandemic, all of these activities took place virtually, thus they did not offer handouts in calendar years 2020 & 2021. During the “Commuting Options” portion of BU’s weekly New Employee Orientation, attendees are presented with alternatives to driving alone, emphasizing mass transit, bicycling, and carpooling. The presentation also highlights EV charging options on the Charles River and Medical Campuses. In addition, during this year's Employee Orientation, new employees were presented with highlights of the Zero Waste Plan which explains how office sorting stations operate and additional options available for employees throughout the semester (e.g., Shred Day, donations), we don't expect this to continue in future years. BU Sustainability will explore how to further engage HR's new virtual Employee Orientation model for the future.
