A brief description of the policies and/or guidelines to improve outdoor air quality and minimize air pollutant emissions from mobile sources:
To improve outdoor air quality, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, BU Parking & Transportation Services (PTS) provides incentives to commuters for sustainable means of transportation.
PTS looks at hybrid and other alternative fuel equipment as options whenever possible to determine the best available options, given the equipment need. They also look at shuttle ridership in order to reduce service or right-size equipment if able. In an effort to reduce BU's carbon footprint BU is studying the opportunities and barriers to piloting an electric bus and exploring how to head toward a fleet that could serve our needs that can be viable both a financial and service capability perspective.
Part 2

Weight of the following categories of air emissions from stationary sources::
Weight of Emissions | |
Nitrogen oxides (NOx) | 42.05 Tons |
Sulfur oxides (SOx) | 9.02 Tons |
Carbon monoxide (CO) | 28.94 Tons |
Particulate matter (PM) | 3.71 Tons |
Ozone (O3) | --- |

Other standard categories of air emissions identified in permits and/or regulations | 46,864 Tons |

A brief description of the methodology(ies) the institution used to complete its air emissions inventory:
BU visits all of its buildings on campus, inventories all emission producing equipment and calculates potential emissions using emissions guarantees and EPA-approved emission factors for criteria and GHG emissions. Actual emissions are calculated using the fuel use or run times of each piece of emission producing equipment.
