Climate Action Plan

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
BU’s Climate Action Plan was developed after a year long analysis by an 18-member task force of the University’s faculty, staff, and students. The Task force was “asked to create a strategy to help address the threats caused by extreme weather patterns and the increased likelihood of problems related to flooding and heat waves on the campus”. The CAP included three different strategies for BU to adopt, and BU’s board chose the most aggressive option, BU BOLD. This course of action set ambitious goals of achieving carbon neutrality by 2040 and becoming a Zero Waste institution by 2030. The targets adopted in BU BOLD would make BU a leader in sustainability among institutions domestically and internationally.
