A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the research inventory (including the types of faculty and staff included as researchers):
The sustainability research inventory was developed through a collaboration with Institutional Research, the BU Research office, and BU Libraries. The Library Liaison group met with sustainability@BU in July of 2016 to discuss the definition of sustainability in relation to the Earth Charter, what types of research archives are available to the campus community, and how to robustly collect information in order to better capture what projects researchers are engaged in within BU. A keyword list based on sustainability-related principles was then generated in order to better guide data capturing. Through a continued partnership with Kenneth Liss, Head of Liaison & Instruction for the University’s libraries, a final list of researchers and their projects was generated. The list attached contains information on research drawn from databases such as MyCV, UROP (Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program), and OpenBU (dissertations and theses). The information reported represents data on funded research projects from FY16 and FY17.
