A brief description of how the employee educators are selected (1st program):

The Sustainability Liaisons program was created to promote campus sustainability through peer-to-peer awareness within each of the schools and colleges on both the Charles River Campus and the Boston University Medical Campus. Faculty and staff volunteer to become Sustainability Liaisons, which has helped the program to grow to 100% participation among all schools and colleges.


A brief description of the formal training that the employee educators receive (1st program):

Sustainability Liaisons meet quarterly with sustainability@BU to improve communication on campus sustainability issues, discuss potential projects within individual schools, and share challenges, solutions, and successes. All volunteers are provided with information and materials to promote sustainable initiatives among their faculty, staff and students.

The Assistant Director for Sustainability serves as a leader for the Sustainability Liaisons Program. There is no financial support provided by the institution.
