In January 2012, the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees endorsed President Brown’s recommendation of the establishment of a standing Advisory Committee on Socially Responsible Investing (“ACSRI”). This committee will advise the Investment Committee of the Board of Trustees with respect to issues of socially responsible investing (including sustainability) at BU. An ad hoc committee has been formed to develop, for approval by the trustees, a charter for the advisory committee and guidelines for its interactions with the Investment Committee.
While Boston University does not currently have a formal investment option that considers environmental/sustainability factors, the University does allow donor-directed gifts that could be invested in strategies that do consider environmental or sustainability factors as long as the gift is significant enough to allow for adequate diversification and risk controls.
