Boston University's 2003 institutional master plan and its 2010 amendment addressed transportation, recycling, energy conservation, and historic preservation, but did not address sustainability at a high level. The University submitted its institutional Master Plan to the City of Boston for approval in late 2012. Sustainability was addressed at a high level. An entire chapter was dedicated to sustainability.
