A brief description of the themed housing, including name(s) and descriptions of theme(s):
Earth House, one of the specialty houses at Boston University, was created to foster the interests of students who have demonstrated a passion for the environment. Students with a strong interest in areas such as climate change, renewable energy, biodiversity, and sustainability live with others who share their passion and become leaders for sustainability initiatives on campus and beyond. Some of the events that took place at the Earth House in 2011 included: "Green Team" recycling for the Red Sox at Fenway Park, a sustainability presentation by BU's sustainability director, film screening of "Carbon Nation", a pizza social to discuss clean energy and resident's classes, tests, and assignments, and the introduction of a compost bin to dispose of organic wastes.
