A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about student commuting:
A survey was sent to all students living off-campus via email. Time frame of data gathering was Monday, October 25, 2021 Through Friday, October 29, 2021. Students that live on-campus walk and the 879 students that live on Newton campus (11.7% of on-campus residents) take a shuttle bus. Source on Residence Hall occupancy = Fact Book

A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about employee commuting:
All employees were emailed a survey requesting commuting data. Time frame for gathering this data was Monday, October 25, 2021 through Friday, October 29, 2021. The question asks respondents to indicate how they commuted each day of the week in the survey. Respondents who chose 3-5 days for a particular method were counted as using that mode as their "primary mode of transportation". It does not sum to 100% because some employees were out of the office that week (e.g., vacation or sick) or using a mode not asked on the survey.
