A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the research inventory:
We included tenure track, non-tenure track faculty, and visiting faculty employed at Boston College in 2020-2021. We queried faculty annual reports using the key words: alternative energy, biodiversity, climate change, consumption, carbon emission, corporate social responsibility, ecolog*, economics, education, energy, environment, environmental ethics, environmental health, environmental history, equality, inequity, justice, global warming, greenhouse gas, photosynthesis, pollution, public health, recycl*, social justice, society, sustain*, and waste. We then reviewed the results of the query and eliminated faculty whose research was not related to sustainability. We then used faculty websites to verify the faculty's research in sustainability topics and to specify their research topic in our data sheet.
