Educational Access Center (formerly Disability Resource Center)

The Educational Access Center ensures that students with disabilities have equitable access to their education. The Center works with students who have self-identified as having a disability to identify and remove educational and programmatic barriers. Barriers and solutions are determined on a case-by-case basis through interactive discussions with the student. Documentation of a disability might be required to clarify the students’ needs. The Center also supports faculty in identifying barriers and implementing accommodations to create an accessible learning environment.

Boise State ASBSU Committee of Excellence

The Inclusive Excellence Standing Committee, commonly referred to as the IESC, is committed to ensuring that ASBSU effectively represents and serves our diverse student population at Boise State University. Through active participation in campus initiatives that promote inclusivity and cultivate a sense of belonging, we strive to address the concerns and interests of marginalized populations. The IESC works diligently to ensure that the voices of underrepresented groups are heard and considered in both ASBSU and the broader university community decision-making processes.

Native American Student Support

Native American Scholarship

Boise State’s Native American Scholarship provides students with a reduced tuition rate of $60 per credit hour.

Members of Idaho’s five federally recognized tribes (Coeur d’Alene, Kootenai, Nez Perce, Shoshone-Bannock, and Shoshone-Paiute) may be eligible.

Steven Nelson Emergency Fund


The Steven Nelson Emergency Fund provides financial assistance to students who are experiencing financial hardship related to coming out as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (LGBTQIA+) during their time at Boise State. Designed to help students move forward in their lives and academic careers, grant awards of up to $1500, will be dispersed in two payments over the course of two consecutive semesters. Pride Alliance

This student organization provides a safe space for LGBTQIA+ students at Boise State University to socialize with movie nights, games nights, etc. They also plan LGBTQIA+ events aimed at educating Boise State students, faculty and staff.

Transgender Alliance

This student organization provides a safe space and support for Trans students at Boise State University and in the Idaho community.  They have regular meetings, fundraisers, clothing drives and other events.

QSTEM Club

This student organization provides a safe space for LGBTQIA+ students pursuing STEM majors at Boise State University. While all majors are welcome to join the club, there is an emphasis in supporting LGTBQIA+ students in STEM majors. They plan regular meetings, fundraisers, and other events on campus.

COLLEGE ASSISTANCE MIGRANT PROGRAM

The College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) assists students who are migratory or seasonal farmworkers (or children of such workers) enrolled in their first year of undergraduate studies at Boise State University. The program supports the completion of the first year of studies. Services include counseling, tutoring, skills workshops, financial aid stipends, health services, and housing assistance to eligible students during their first year of college.

TRIO Academic Coaching and Educational Support (ACES) is a Student Support Services (SSS) program that serves Boise State undergraduate students who have a disability. TRIO ACES encourages and supports students to pursue and attain an undergraduate degree by offering individualized services to successfully guide students through their academic goals toward graduation. Services include tutoring, academic coaching, financial aid support, and advocacy support for disability services.

MCNAIR SCHOLARS PROGRAM

The McNair Scholars Program is an academic achievement and graduate school preparatory program for undergraduate students who are first-generation and limited, and/or underrepresented in graduate programs. The program prepares students for graduate studies through scholarly enrichment, exposure to research, and other academic experiences and opportunities. The McNair Program serves undergraduate students who are in the final two years of their bachelor’s degree program.

Refugee Collaboration Team

The Refugee Collaboration Team is a group of campus and community leaders who meet on a quarterly basis to promote the following goals:

  • assist refugees in rebuilding successful lives in Southwestern Idaho,
  • educate our students and our community toward these efforts, and
  • make the resources of BSU fully accessible to refugees in Idaho.

This initiative was launched in August, 2009 by the Boise State Provost and Executive Director of Mountain States Group (now JANNUS) to further a mutually beneficial partnership. The current memorandum of agreement (see following section) outlines the activities of the group.

Membership has grown to include the Executive Directors of all local refugee resettlement agencies, and campus leaders representing experiential learning, curriculum development, research and grants, and student support.
