Community-based organizations have numerous opportunities to engage with Boise State University processes. At the college level, advisory boards are in place where community leaders offer insights and guidance to college deans and faculty. For instance, the School of the Arts and the School of the Environment maintain advisory boards to help establish and refine their strategic priorities. Additionally, certain Centers and Institutes, like the Church and Andrus Centers, host advisory boards with community leaders who provide valuable input and direction.

The Tribal Advisory Board is another example, representing a collaborative effort with shared membership between the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes at Fort Hall and Boise State.

Professional programs, such as nursing and engineering, also benefit from community involvement. These programs have committees with external partners who provide feedback on curriculum content, ensuring that students acquire skills relevant to today’s workforce needs. For instance, nursing program partners advise on essential knowledge areas for students entering the healthcare industry.
