Description of the methodology used to gather data about student commuting:

Spring semester, 2024.  A random, statistically significant sample of 3,887 students were sent a transportation survey.   533 students gave complete responses. The survey was emailed in January 2024 and remained open for 3 weeks.  Transportation modes included walking, biking, public bus, university shuttle bus, carpool or vanpool, driving a vehicle alone, or no commute.

Description of the methodology used to gather data about employee commuting:

A survey was sent to a random, representative sample of 3,671 faculty and staff through Qualtrics survey software. 1226 employees provided complete responses.  The survey was emailed in January 2024 and remained open for 3 weeks.  Transportation modes included walking, biking, public bus, university shuttle bus, carpool or vanpool, driving a vehicle alone, or no commute.
