Does the institution have a car sharing or carpool program?:
Yes

Description of the institution’s car sharing or carpool program:

Boise State partners with CommuterRide to provide carpooling options.

CommuterRide information: As a program of the Ada County Highway District, our mission is to promote smart commute options through education, rideshare services, and effective partnerships. We strive to be the Treasure Valley’s go-to resource for Transportation Demand Management (TDM) issues. Transportation Demand Management focuses on moving people and goods, rather than vehicles, by providing convenient and smart transportation alternatives to driving alone. The end result is the more efficient and effective use of the existing transportation network. Our various TDM activities focus on employers, employees, and residents in and around Ada County. The benefits to the Treasure Valley include maximizing the efficiency of our existing infrastructure and limiting the impacts of traffic in Ada County. In addition, reducing vehicle trips limits air and water pollution, lessens roadway wear and tear, and supports the district's commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. 2019 Annual Report: We are proud of the many accomplishments and partnerships made in 2019 to further our goal of promoting smart commute options. Take a look at the 2019 Annual Report to see how our work impacts commuters, employers, and the community. Users of Share the Ride Idaho will enjoy the following benefits: Match your Trip with Others (carpool and more): Save time, money and reduce your impact by finding fellow residents and employees taking similar trips to match a trip with. Simply set your origin and destination for a regular or one-time trip. Share the Ride Idaho will match the user with others who have a similar travel plan. Users can search and view potential trip matches that are based upon a specific radius from the origin, destination and along the route. Once an original search has been entered, users are able to easily modify their search, save it for later, or go back and review their recent searches. Users should save and share trips as "favorites" so others can match with them. Explore your Options: Share the Ride Idaho will provide a range of travel options for a user’s trip and the impacts associated with each choice. This will help the user to make an informed decision about their trip. Track your Impact: Users may track their trip choices to see the impact on their costs and local environment, receive rewards, and compete with fellow residents and employees in your area. By tracking travel choices in a diary, users will receive digital badges that can be shared on social media for actions such as “first alternative trip logged” or “first bicycle trip.” Top performers for each travel mode will also be displayed on a digital leaderboard. Tracking trips may also enter a user in a contest or campaign.
